We are excited to introduce Tonya Taylor, the North Carolina State Coordinator to our BFLT family! Tonya comes to us from Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC), in Durham, NC where she served as the Community Engagement Coordinator. Tonya will be an additional resource to you, focusing on our Wealth Retention and Asset Protection (WRAP) program.
A native North Carolinian, Tonya graduated from Bates College, where she earned a degree in Environmental Studies with the concentration, “Nature in Human Culture”. Following graduation, she served as the Program Coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Affairs in higher education. In this position, Tonya provided cultural, academic, and other forms of support to 1st generation students and other underrepresented/underserved student populations. Additionally, she worked to develop and implement cultural and environmental programs.
Tonya brings to the team expertise in permaculture design from the ECOSA Institute, and she is a certified North Carolina Beekeeper. Following her agricultural and environmental passions, Tonya is pursuing training as a Durham County volunteer Intern Extension Master Gardener. An avid traveler, Tonya has visited more than twenty countries. She has studied eco-tourism in Tanzania and New Zealand, as well as environmental justice issues in India and Mexico. She is a member of Conservation Trust North Carolina’s (CTNC) Future Leaders of Conservation (FLOC) inaugural advisory board.
Please join me in welcoming Tonya and feel free to connect with her at tonya@bflt.org, if she does not get to you first!
