Women in Agriculture

Since the beginning woman have been active participants in agriculture, Virginia’ African American Women In Agriculture is an organic group of women who have come together to celebrate and honor the proud history of Virginia’s African American Women in Agriculture.  The Black Family Land Trust serves as the convener for this support group of proud woman in Agriculture.
Topic include:
  • Recognizing the “Grass Ceiling” syndrome on African American women.
  • Understanding your financial management of both personal and farm operations. 
  • Maintaining your femininity and professionalism
  • Telling our stories and defining our own success
  • Embracing diversity: age, education, family histories, etc.
  • Planning for succession; estate planning and farm transition
